Barry Rogan

I am a concertina player who has been playing from the young age of 9. I was taught by All Ireland winner Lorraine O’Brien from country Clare the home of the concertina. From this is then progressed to other lessons with people like Michael Oraghalleigh and Mohsen Amini. In 2018, I was 1 of 10 people from our comhaltas branch chosen to go to America and play music in different states like Baltimore, Delaware, Virginia and Washington DC. I teach concertina at my comhaltas, as well as a trad school, with kids of different ages and levels. When teaching I can teach you a new tune or I can go through technique, or a bit of both if you would like. I also play gigs such as weddings which has improved my playing. On the concertina I am currently sitting on a grade 8 Distinction as I got 98% on my concertina grading. In future years I aim to get a diploma in it.
