About Laura
Laura Flanagan is an outstanding Irish traditional fiddler living in Lubbock, Texas. A long-time student of fiddler Randal Bays, Laura has performed and taught at music camps over the past decade, including ZoukFest, The Cascadia Irish Music Week, O’Flaherty Irish Music Retreat, and the West Texas Chamber Music Strings Camp. She has also performed with American Irish bouzouki master and scholar Roger Landes, and in March of 2020 she released her first solo fiddle album, The Great Southern Ocean, with Australian master musicians Peter Daffy (guitar) and Luke Plumb (bouzouki).
Additionally, Laura has over 16 years of experience teaching music to students from ages nine through adult in both group and private lesson settings. This includes a highly successful career teaching orchestra in Texas public schools for 15 years, where her primary instrument was the classical double bass. Laura couples a deep passion for the power of community in music with the belief that all human beings have both the right and the ability to make and share music. Through playing and teaching, she hopes to share these two passions and facilitate the opportunity for others to find themselves through music. |
