My basic rate is $80/hr. I also offer a sliding scale, and am available for lessons shorter than an hour.
The sliding scale ranges from $50 per hour to my normal rate of $80 per hour (pro-rated for lessons shorter than an hour.) My hope is to make lessons accessible to as many students as I can. I don’t ask for any financial information; the sliding scale works on the honor system, so just let me know what works for you. (I also sometimes am able to consider rates below $50 an hour for dedicated students with financial need – feel free to email me about that.)
I bill 4 lessons at a time. These lessons never expire but I do ask for 24 hrs notice for cancellation in order to not be charged for the missed lesson. Lessons cancelled 24 hrs or more in advance can be rescheduled, ideally within the same week.
Marta’s singular approach to the harp has led to performances throughout Europe and North America. Highlights include the World Harp Congress (Vancouver,) Spoleto Festival USA (Charleston), Pritzker Pavilion (Chicago), Espace Culturel Bertin Poirée (Paris), The Irish Centre (Leeds), and every major North American harp festival. Having had the transformative opportunity to learn at a young age from the great innovator of modern Irish harping, Máire Ní Chathasaigh, Marta has continued to develop new techniques, advancing the stylistic development of the harp as a solo instrument in traditional music. In addition, she is known as a versatile accompanist on harp and piano.
A dedicated teacher for students of all ages, levels, and abilities, Marta has over twenty years of teaching experience. She has taught online since 2008. Now based in Chicago full-time, Marta volunteers with The Shepherd School of Irish Music (www.chicagoirishmusic.com.)
